All of us know that tomorrow, November 11th is National Veterans Day. Other than that... do we really know what this day means and how much these veterans have given us?
Today, I went to Stop n' Shop (local grocery store) and noticed on the way in a veteran sitting outside the doors with a can for donations, and flowers to give to people who generously make a donate. I watched from a far, and noticed that everyone went right by him. They didn't even look at him. This just made me so sad. How can we take what this man (and others) have done for the country for granted? If we can't make a donation.. can't we just say "Thank you for all you've done?"
On the way in, I acknowledged him and made eye contact... and said *hello*.
Again, on the way out, I said hello, made a donation and said "Thank you for all you have done." He smiled, and didn't say your welcome, but "thank you" for the donation. These times are tough for all of us, but I get the impression it is tougher for our vets... and it shouldn't be. So, please don't pass these men and women by, make a donation... and make their day. This flower goes a long way.
