As we all know the real estate maket has been unstable for a while. I was looking to fill in the slack of sales with that of rental listings. Yes, I have worked with these in the past, but when did they become sooooo much work for little return?
I had a rental for a property on Main Street in Cromwell, CT. It used to be a bar, and would still be the Highest and best use for this location. Making it more of a upscale bar would be a wonderful idea. Would you believe someone who wanted to rent it also felt this way. I showed him the property, and the next thing I knew he was on Nantucket for the summer, and he put it on the back burner. I kept in contact with him for the next 4 months, but it was never the right time. Then he came around again, puting in time and also had me there to met contractor on Christmas Eve. He definitely wanted it and wanted to move forward with the rental agreement. Within 3 days, he changed his mind, and dropped it again. This whole process went on for almost 11 months (March of '07 to January '08)...The running around, and the gas expended would never cover the cost of the commission. In the end, he completely dropped it... he decided he couldn't afford it. Why not just say this up front? Why waste my time, the towns time, and everyone else who was involved.
Are there any other agents that work with rentals, that have made them successful, and are worth sticking with?
