TIME TO REALLY GET TO KNOW YOUR REALTOR...

Have you ever wondered how realtors start in this profession?  Here is how I did years ago...

It took nearly 40 years to finally find a career that I love, and excel in. For over 20 years I worked in the financial field which I liked, but just wasn't as rewarding as I thought it would be, and I always felt something was missing.   Also being people oriented  took part time jobs in the field of retail now and then... usually for the holiday season.

Many changes occurred in my life....  I relocated from Danbury/Bethel, CT to Southington, CT to be closer to my new job at Aetna. I eventually got married had children.  Everything was fine until the glass slipper broke. It wasn't until I went through my divorce that I finally came across a career that met both needs the needs of working with people and keeping my fingers in the world of accounting.

I relocated to Cromwell, CT to be in relatively close proximity to my ex for the sake of our children.  I wanted to go back to Fairfield County in Connecticut, I had a job offer and everything.....but it just wasn't in the cards.  Looking back on this, I'm glad I did not...can you imagine the commute with these gas prices?  It is an hour commute one way.

The whole event of selling my home, and trying to find a place to live, and the ordeal I went through can be read in my blog "Taking Pride.. and Going Beyond".  I don't want to repeat myself and bore you. In a nutshell the broker of Johnson Real Estate, Inc., Glen Johnson (located in Cromwell, CT), helped me with the purchase of my condo.  After moving into my new home and getting familiar with the area.  Glen and I were talking and he wanted to know if  I wanted to work for him.  Change is never easy, but it seemed like the right avenue for me at the time.  I went to some other agencies to check them out too, but no other real estate company but clients first.  Every agency was the company bottom line first.  After my ordeal of selling my home, I knew there had to be a change.  Johnson Real Estate, Inc. is NOT a franchise, and has been around for over 35 years.  Realizing this, Glen must know what he is doing to stay in business for so long. So I went to work for him.  This ended up being a perfect fit for me, and I'm glad I took a leap of faith. I have never had a thought since that something was missing with my career.  I'm a strong believer, there IS a reason for everything.

So anyone that says divorce is a terrible thing to go through... Listen to them, they are right, but you never know, you might just come out better on the other end and with a career that is fulfilling.
