Yes, there is a Santa Claus.. an angel.. or someone looking over my shoulder this year.
Last month (November) I put my name in a "3-times-a-day drawing" (8:20am; 11:20am; and 3:20am) with the radio station WRCH 100.5 out of Farmington, CT. My name along with 1,000's of others I am sure. At one of these time, if your name is called you have 10 minutes to call in to claim your $500.00. Yes, $500.00.. it is that simple... but when you stack your odds against 1,000's of others and being around a radio to listen every day at those times to see if you have been called.. the odds are against you.
My TV is on the fritz.. it keeps turning on and off.. more off than on. When I checked out these prices I was amazed (even on sale) how much they are going for. I said to myself, if I ever won or came into money, I would *buy myself* a tv.. other wise, I would put up with the possessed one. I thought I would check out Wal-Mart for TV's last Friday since I was there checking out bikes for my sons for Christmas. I was looking over all the different kinds when my cell phone rang.. I ignored it, thinking I would call this person back. No sooner did it go to voice mail, it rang again, and again. I'm thinking.. WOW real estate is picking up. The next time the phone rang, I answered it. It was an attorneys office in Middletown CT calling me. I thought GREAT, I've worked with them in the past, they must have a client wanting to sell or buy property. NOT!! It was the assistant calling me to tell me to call WRCH, they called my name and I had less than 5 minutes left to call them to claim $500.00.. My mouth fell to the floor. I only had ONE problem.. I didn't know the number, and when I call INFORMATION.. they couldn't help me either. Time is now ticking, and I'm thinking I came so close.. but lost out due to NO PHONE NUMBER available. Then I had a brainstorm.. I checked my contact list.. sure enough last month when I registered for this, I put the number in my cell. I frankicly called, and made it with 2 minutes to spare.
THANK YOU WRCH, FARMINGTON SAVINGS BANK AND ACTIVERAIN'S CHRISTMAS MEME... WISHES TO COME TRUE.
Later that evening when I got home, I had lots of phone messages from people I didn't even know. They all took the time to look up my home number and call.. just to make sure I had the opportunity to call the radio station to see about winning the $500.00.
So thank you to everyone who either called my cell phone or home to let me know about this. There would have been no way I would have won otherwise.. being in a store, who has a radio with them. This just shows there are good people in the world.
Today I went to pick up the check, and I would once again like to thank WRCH and Farmington Savings Bank for making this possible.
