MERRY CHRISTMAS, HAPPY HANUKKAH..
During this holiday season there is so much to do...shopping, decorating, cooking, being with family and friends.
Yesterday I was able to step out for a while and do some shopping. Everywhere I went, people spoke of "Happy Holidays"... my first thought was "WHAT HOLIDAY"? Most everyone I spoke with mentioned Christmas. So, why not say "Merry Christmas"? Who are you offending? If someone came up to me and said Happy Hanukkah.. I would respect them. This is how they celebrate. No way is truly right or wrong if this is how you were brought up or believe now. So stand up and be heard. The saying "Happy Holidays" is generic. You are loosing part of your identity and who you are.
Let me say, I know that everyone does not believe in the birth of Christ.. and celebrates in different ways this time of year. This is great. You have the right to your opinion/belief, or lack there of.. But why not express the way *you* celebrate/or not?
One woman I spoke with was Jewish.. she said "Happy Holidays"... when I asked her if she would rather say "Happy Hanukkah" she replied yes. I said to her then "Why not"... everyone has the right celebrate this time of year the way they believe. She agreed, and said she would try this again.. I heard her off in the distance say "Happy Hanukkah" to anther person, and they nodded.. and said "Merry Christmas". HOORAY!! This country's foundation is just that.. many different people, with many different ways of thinking.. why are we blending into one? So stand up and be heard! I personally believe in the birth of Christ and Christmas... So 'MERRY CHRISTMAS' .
How do you celebrate? I'd like to know... Stand up and be heard.
