This afternoon I had to go to Bradley Airport, just north of Hartford, CT to pick up my sister who was coming in on a flight that was due to arrive at noon. So, I figured I would leave my house ½ hour before her flight was due to land. It is normally a 40 to 45 minute trip and with this extra time she would have enough time to locate her luggage and meet me where you can pick up arrivals.
I was on I-91 just 2 exits away when she called to say she just landed. I told her where I was and that I would be there in about 10 minutes.
I pulled into a *pick-up* space and waited, all the time remaining in the vehicle. A police car came by and said I would have to move. I explained that my sister is just in the mist of getting her luggage and would be out in less than 5 minutes. This didn't matter... he insisted I move or be ticketed.
I went around the airport once, and left a message on my sisters cell explaining the situation. I came around again, but I did not see her. So, I had to circle again. This is about a 5 to 10 minutes drive... and about 2 to 3 miles. After 4 times, of doing this.. I finally saw her. She had shut off her phone and never got the message.. she was walking all over trying to find where I had parked. What a complete disaster. Now if the cop would have just let me sit there for 5 minutes she would have seen me, and I would have saved gas. So much for airports trying to go *green*.
